Hamas urged the African Union summit scheduled on the 5th and 6th of February to reject Israel’s membership in the Union.

In a statement, Hamas stated that the occupation has been and continues to practice terrorism and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people, and has systematically committed crimes against them, with the testimony of several international human rights organizations, most recently the Amnesty International report, which described it as an “apartheid regime."

It also called on all free people in the African continent to exert efforts to fail the rejoining of the occupation to the African Union, whose principles and objectives are to combat colonialism and racial discrimination.
