The head of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, received a telephone call from the United Nations Special Coordinator in the Middle East, Tor Winsald, and put Haniyeh in the form of his efforts with various regional and international parties, especially the United States, to de-escalate in Jerusalem, the West bank and Gaza.

Winsald told Haniyeh that he had conveyed three important messages to the occupation: non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa until the end of Ramadan, intrusions and killings in the occupied West Bank must stop, and Gaza's escalation must cease.

He added that he contacted Jordan to discuss the mechanism for preserving the current status of Al-Quds’ historical places and not escalating the situation.

Haniyeh welcomed Winsald's and the United Nations' efforts along with Egypt and Qatar, which reflected the degree of awareness of the seriousness of the current situation, warning of the continuing occupation endeavours to achieve maximum temporal and spatial division in Al-Aqsa.
