The Supreme Court of Occupation rejected a petition against the closure of the investigation into the martydom of 4 children from the Bakr family in Gaza; they were killed as a result of the occupation airplanes’ rockets while they were playing on the Gaza beach in July, 2014.
Three human rights organizations filed a petition in 2020 to overturn the Attorney-General's decision to dismiss an appeal by the three institutions against the closure of the investigation into the case and to order a criminal investigation leading to the prosecution of those responsible for the killing.
The petitioners said that the investigation material showed that the occupation aircraft deliberately opened fire on the children, targeting them directly without identifying them, and without taking the necessary precautions, further evidence that the occupation did not wish to prosecute its soldiers and commanders for their crimes against the Palestinian people, highlighting the urgent need for independent and effective investigations to hold all perpetrators accountable.
