Following "disintegration law" ratification in Kenesst yesterday, Michael Herzog, Israeli Ambassador to the United States was called for a clarification conversation with Wendy Sherman, the deputy of the American foreign minister.
Yesterday, in the American Foreign Affairs Committee, the ratification of the disintegration law was discussed. Due to this law, Israelis will be allowed to stay in north West Bank areas, that were evacuated in 2005. America asked Israel not to leap at such a suggestion. From Betal's point of view, the ratification of this law is particularly provocative over the security escalation; as it undermines the efforts made to achieve calm before Ramadan.
Settlements that have been evacuated may be repopulated to the adjusted law. Palestinians own the lands in Homesh outright. According to Vandita Patel, the deputy spokeswoman for the US State Department, demonstrated that ratifying this law opposes the pledges of the Israeli government to the United States.
The ratification of the law, in his words, "came only two days after Israel pledged to freeze construction in the territories" at the Sharm el-Sheikh security meeting. Also, it is assumed that it will not discuss any new construction in the settlements for a period of four months and will not approve the legalization of any new settlement outpost for a period of six months.
