The Director General of the General Petroleum Authority, Iyad Al-Shorbagy, warned of the catastrophic consequences of the fuel and gas shortage in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Shorbagy stated that the shortage of gas and fuel would lead to the shutdown of many essential and vital goods and services, such as bakeries, hospitals, transportation, and communications. It also threatens to halt water supplies and economic activity, in addition to preventing citizens from cooking.

The Gaza Strip requires at least 7,000 tons of gas per month, while the recent supply had been limited to no more than 3,500 tons, and sometimes as little as 2,000 tons. However, the supply has now completely stopped due to the closure of border crossings.
