The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) reported that 96% of water in the Gaza Strip is unfit for human consumption due to the complete collapse of infrastructure.

According to ICSPR, the daily per capita share of water has decreased by 97%, now ranging between 3-15 liters, far below the global average of over 100 liters per day. Additionally, 88% of water wells have been damaged, causing a severe shortage in water sources.

The complete destruction of 100% of wastewater treatment plants has led to contaminated water flooding residential neighborhoods. Meanwhile, the destruction of 496 desalination plants has deprived residents of their primary source of drinkable water. Furthermore, 655 kilometers of sewage networks have been destroyed, causing sewage to overflow into streets and homes.

This crisis is compounded by the fact that 70% of sewage pumps are out of service, resulting in a dire environmental and public health catastrophe.
