The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs has revealed the continued imposition of harsh punitive measures by the Israeli prison authorities against Palestinian prisoners, resulting in physical injuries and a significant deterioration in their health and psychological conditions.
Following visits conducted by its legal team to several Israeli prisons, the Commission confirmed that the occupation’s practices, which include systematic torture, have contributed to the spread of diseases and epidemics within the prisons due to the absence of healthcare and the reduction of the minimum standards of living.
It also pointed out that the shortage of water, restrictions on bathing opportunities, and the escalation of solitary confinement under severe and unprecedented conditions are additional factors leading to the worsening humanitarian situation of the prisoners.
