Israeli officers and soldiers have reported that the Israeli army issued direct orders to its forces to deliberately open fire on Palestinians heading to humanitarian aid distribution sites over the past month, under the pretext of dispersing or driving them away, even though it was clear that these Gazans posed no threat, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

One soldier told the newspaper: "The story is that there is a complete loss of the purity of arms in Gaza," adding: "The situation at aid distribution points is like an execution ground. They shoot at people waiting for aid as if they were an attacking force. They don’t use crowd dispersal methods or tear gas—they open fire with heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and mortars."
