Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty held a phone conversation with U.S. Presidential Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, to discuss efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which has been facing Israeli genocide for over 21 months.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that Abdel Aaty emphasized the urgent need to resume the ceasefire in Gaza and to secure the release of hostages and detainees, considering this a necessary step toward sustaining the ceasefire and establishing peace in the Middle East based on U.S. President Donald Trump's vision.

He also stressed the importance of presenting a political horizon for the Palestinian cause that fulfills the aspirations and hopes of the Palestinian people in establishing an independent state, "in order to prevent the region from relapsing into repeated cycles of escalation and tension, and to promote security and stability."
