A new round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel is set to begin today, Sunday, in the Qatari capital, Doha, aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange, according to a Palestinian official familiar with the talks.
The official stated that the negotiations will focus on the mechanisms for implementing the framework agreement for a ceasefire based on the new proposal, noting that Hamas wants to emphasize the observations it made in its response, particularly regarding:
-
Ensuring the adequate entry of humanitarian aid through UN and international organizations,
-
Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,
-
Guarantees for a permanent end to the war,
-
Lifting the blockade, and
-
Reconstruction of Gaza.
The official added that Hamas also wants to emphasize the reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza in both directions for the movement of people and aid.
