The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that children in the Gaza Strip make up nearly half the population, and their lives have been marked by “war and destruction.”
UNRWA explained that one million children are currently out of school, forced into repeated displacement, and barely have enough to eat.
For the second consecutive year, children have been denied access to education, as most schools have been destroyed by Israeli forces, with the remaining ones converted into shelters for displaced people.
At the end of June, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that approximately 112 Palestinian children are admitted to hospitals in Gaza daily due to malnutrition since the beginning of this year, as a result of the Israeli blockade.
