The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has warned of an Israeli plan to forcibly detain residents of the Gaza Strip in a closed detention camp to be established on the ruins of Rafah city.
In a statement, the Monitor explained that the plan, revealed by Israeli Minister of Security Yisrael Katz, involves relocating around 600,000 Palestinians to what is being called a “humanitarian zone” after subjecting them to strict security checks. The plan includes imposing severe restrictions on their movement and preventing them from leaving the area.
The Monitor noted that this move represents a deliberate attempt to depopulate Gaza of its original inhabitants. It added that the use of terms such as “humanitarian zone” or “humanitarian transit area” is a calculated manipulation of language aimed at justifying coercive policies designed to reshape Gaza’s demographic reality.
