The head of Egyptian intelligence, Major General Hassan Rashad, held meetings with the Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, as well as with negotiating delegations from the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Sources told Cairo News Channel that the meetings aim to advance current efforts to reach a ceasefire and to overcome obstacles hindering an agreement. The sources explained that Egyptian, Qatari, and U.S. mediators are intensifying their contacts and meetings with all parties to push for a truce in Gaza.
In a related development, Israeli Army Radio reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed members of the Security and Political Affairs Cabinet (the “cabinet”) of his readiness to move forward toward a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange deal, on the condition that any agreement would include the option to resume fighting later if necessary.
