UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said that financial contributions from the Arab region this year amounted to only 3% of the agency’s total funding.

He added that Arab contributions have decreased by more than 90% compared to last year, urging Arab states to show solidarity with UNRWA not only through political support but also through strong financial backing.

Earlier yesterday, Lazzarini stated that people in Gaza are searching for food and dying of hunger, noting that the humanitarian response in Gaza is collapsing, and stressing that urgent action is needed.
