Gaza’s Agricultural Output Collapses to 13%

Economic affairs researcher Ahmad Abu Qamar stated that Gaza’s agricultural production has collapsed to less than 13%, due to systematic Israeli burning and bulldozing, with farmers incurring losses exceeding $500 million so far.

Before the war, Gaza had achieved 115% self-sufficiency in vegetable production and used to export the surplus abroad. But now, the food gap exceeds 85%, and prices have soared uncontrollably.

Abu Qamar added that the occupation not only bulldozes the land, but also burns it and alters its chemical and biological composition, rendering it unusable for farming for years. He noted that the soil would need at least five years to recover after being burned.
