The Israeli Knesset’s National Security Committee approved, in its first reading, a bill to execute perpetrators of resistance operations.
The Prisoners’ Information Office warned of the danger of this step and the new escalation approved by the committee, stressing that this decision violates international norms and laws that guarantee peoples’ right to resist occupation.
It said that these measures constitute an official declaration of the occupation’s intent to legitimize killings of Palestinian prisoners under a false legal cover, representing a blatant violation of all international laws and conventions that criminalize execution and consider it an inhumane punishment.
It also stressed that the approval of this bill poses a direct threat to the lives of thousands of prisoners who are already subjected to slow-death policies through torture, starvation, and medical neglect.
