The Mechanism of Rafah Crossing Operation under the U.S. Plan to End the War on Gaza

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar revealed details of what has been agreed upon regarding the operation of the Rafah Crossing in the coming period, as part of the U.S. plan to end the war on the Gaza Strip.

According to Egyptian sources who spoke to the newspaper, it was agreed to partially reopen the Rafah Crossing under detailed mechanisms currently being finalized, allowing movement in both directions rather than in one direction only.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Army Radio reported that residents of Gaza will be allowed to travel to Egypt through the Rafah Crossing — under the same mechanism as the January 2025 agreement — with Israel’s approval and under inspection and supervision by a European Union delegation. As for the return of Palestinians from abroad to the Strip, it will only be permitted after a mechanism is agreed upon with the Egyptian side.
