The Executive Director of the Palestinian NGOs Network in Gaza, Amjad Al-Shawa, reported that around one and a half million Palestinians have lost their homes over two years of the Israeli genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
Al-Shawa stated that between 300,000 and 400,000 displaced Palestinians have managed to return to their areas in Gaza and the north, despite the extremely harsh conditions, noting that most of them lost their homes. He explained that the flow of returnees is expected to increase if shelter supplies are allowed in and the second phase of the Israeli withdrawal from areas in Rafah, eastern Khan Younis, Al-Shuja’iya, and northern Gaza is implemented.
He pointed out that there are 60 million tons of rubble across the devastated Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the current priority is urgent relief operations and humanitarian response to residents’ needs — including recovering the bodies of martyrs, locating the missing, and providing shelter for millions.
Al-Shawa also called for urgent evacuation of more than 17,000 patients and wounded individuals who require immediate life-saving assistance.
