The Director-General of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, has called for the formation of an independent UN committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the mutilation and abuse of Palestinian martyrs’ bodies after their handover by the Israeli side.
Al-Bursh stated, “We were horrified by the condition of the martyrs’ bodies, many of which showed signs of severe torture, with some victims found bound in chains.” He noted that autopsies revealed that several martyrs had been executed at close range, while others were left to bleed to death.
He further reported that Israeli forces looted organs from the martyrs’ bodies, including corneas, kidneys, and livers, and that Israeli military dogs had mauled many of the corpses recovered from beneath the rubble.
The Ministry of Health announced that it had received 30 bodies of Palestinians—released by Israel—through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), bringing the total number of bodies handed over to 120 since the start of the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
