Israeli warplanes launched intense airstrikes on the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Israeli media reported that two Israeli soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire between occupation forces and resistance fighters. The Israeli site “Hadashot Bezman” claimed that fighters from the resistance attempted to target a group of Israeli soldiers led by mercenary Yasser Abu Shabab in Rafah. The fighters reportedly encountered an army vehicle unexpectedly and blew it up, injuring three soldiers.
Channel 12 stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is assessing the security situation with the defense minister and other officials in response to what he called a “violation of the ceasefire.”
Local sources in Rafah said the Israeli army carried out at least three airstrikes on the outskirts of the city to protect the unit led by Abu Shabab, which operates for the Israeli occupation.
Meanwhile, the United States issued threats to Hamas, saying it had received “credible reports of an imminent violation of the agreement by Hamas against Gaza’s residents,” warning that any planned attack would be a serious and direct breach of the ceasefire. The U.S. affirmed it would take steps to protect civilians and maintain the agreement.
