The media advisor to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna, confirmed that the amount of aid that has entered the Gaza Strip since the start of the ceasefire is far below the minimum needed to meet the massive and accumulated humanitarian needs.

Abu Hasna said that most Gaza residents are drinking contaminated water, and even the water that undergoes distillation is not 100% safe for drinking, according to scientific studies.

He added: “We are facing an area where life has been completely assassinated — not only through the loss of 10% of the population between martyrs, wounded, and missing persons, but also through the total destruction of entire cities such as Rafah, eastern Khan Younis, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, and Jabalia camp. More than 80% of Gaza City itself has been completely destroyed.”

He also noted that famine remains ongoing, particularly in Gaza City.
