Worsening Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza Due to Israel’s Obstruction of Aid Entry

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights condemned Israel’s obstruction of humanitarian aid entry into the Gaza Strip, despite more than two weeks having passed since the ceasefire took effect. The center warned that delaying relief efforts is worsening the humanitarian catastrophe.

According to the center’s statement, since the start of the ceasefire, Israel has allowed only 1,000 aid trucks to enter, while the Strip requires no fewer than 600 trucks daily to meet the basic needs of its 2.1 million residents, 96% of whom suffer from severe food insecurity.

The statement noted that thousands of trucks remain stranded at border crossings awaiting Israeli approval, including 6,000 UNRWA trucks carrying food supplies sufficient for six months, in addition to hundreds of thousands of tents and shelter materials urgently needed as winter approaches.

The center called on the international community to pressure the Israeli government to ensure the sustained and large-scale entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
