The Situation of Prisoners in Ofer Prison is Difficult

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that conditions for prisoners in Megiddo Prison have been continuously deteriorating since the ceasefire agreement in mid-October.

In a statement, the Commission said that the prisoners are subjected to repeated assaults and beatings, and that the prison administration frequently transfers them from one cell to another without prior notice, increasing tension in the sections.

It added that the outdoor recreation break ("fura") is not granted daily, healthcare services are nearly non-existent, and food portions have significantly decreased in both quality and quantity.

Additionally, hygiene tools such as razors and nail clippers are rarely provided. Very limited amounts of hygiene supplies are distributed — for example, shampoo is given in amounts no more than a quarter of a plastic cup, and each prisoner receives only one roll of tissues per week.
