America’s Plan for “New Gaza

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that the Israeli security establishment was surprised by an American request — approved by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — allowing the start of the “New Gaza” project.

According to the newspaper, the project includes rebuilding the cities located east of the “yellow line,” to which the occupation forces withdrew once the agreement came into effect. These areas are still under army control. The project also includes beginning the reconstruction of Rafah, which was destroyed by the army, followed by a second phase to rebuild other cities east of the yellow line, eventually reaching the northern areas of the Strip.

Once the reconstruction is completed, the occupation forces will withdraw from these areas, effectively dividing the Strip into two regions: “New Gaza” in the east and “Old Gaza” in the west. Although there is no clear timetable for the project — and it may take years — the United States is pressing to accelerate its implementation.
