The spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, said that more than one shelter center in the Gaza Strip was flooded as a result of the weather depression in its early hours.
Basal added that thousands of tents were severely damaged, and the displaced people’s belongings — including clothes, blankets, and mattresses — were soaked, amid the absence of any alternatives and the lack of basic necessities for life or safety, in addition to the extremely harsh conditions they have been living under due to the genocide in Gaza for two consecutive years.
He stressed that the Civil Defense is unable to deal with the ongoing flooding incidents because there is no equipment available, as the occupation has destroyed all tools needed to handle such weather conditions.
He noted that among the cases monitored today was the flooding of an entire children’s floor in “Friends of the Patient” Hospital in Gaza City, while they were unable to do anything to help them.
