Suffering Experienced by Prisoners in Israel’s Negev Prison

The Prisoners’ Information Office, citing a private source, reported that Gaza detainees who were recently visited in the Negev Prison are being subjected to harsh and brutal treatment by the guards, including deliberate neglect, mistreatment, collective punishment, and continuous restrictions on the smallest details of their daily lives.

The prisoners indicated that the clothing provided to them is old and worn out, and not available for everyone. They are also forced to remove part of their clothing when going out, and are left waiting for long periods before being allowed into the visitation room. They added that the water used for showering is extremely cold, and that basic cleaning supplies are unavailable, which worsens their suffering—especially during the winter.

The prisoners confirmed that the prison administration does not respond to requests for access to the clinic, even in medical cases, which poses a direct threat to their lives. They noted that disciplinary measures are imposed for the most trivial reasons: one prisoner was assaulted and then isolated for hanging a towel inside the section, and three prisoners were injured with metal bullets as punishment for crossing a certain line in the prison yard.
