The Jerusalem Governorate stated that the Israeli occupation municipality has approved the construction of a new tunnel south of the city, valued at 10 million shekels.

The governorate added that the project aims to connect the settlement of Har Homa, built on the lands of Jabal Abu Ghunim south of Jerusalem, to the Begin Expressway.

The project is located in Wadi al-Diraja, which separates several Palestinian villages south of Jerusalem, most notably Sur Baher and Umm Tuba.
