The so-called Israeli Committee for Planning and Construction (“Fetmal”) approved the “Ein Jarar” plan, known as “Fetmal/1077,” which will impose a firebelt on the city of Umm al-Fahm in northern occupied Palestine.

The plan entails the confiscation of dozens of dunams of land from the residents of Umm al-Fahm, a city considered part of the front line defending Palestinian rights inside occupied Palestine, causing concern for the Israeli authorities.

The Mayor of Umm al-Fahm, Samir Mahamid, stated that the “Ein Jarar” project aims to expand the buffer zone from 30 meters to 80 meters without any valid justification. He confirmed that Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, ordered this expansion without any legal basis, which constitutes a blow to the landowners, preventing them from accessing their lands and barring future construction.
