Cancer Patients in Gaza on the Brink of Death

The Medical Director of the Gaza Cancer Center, Mohammed Abu Nada, stated that cancer patients in the Gaza Strip are facing what he described as a “slow death sentence.”

Abu Nada pointed out that the severe shortage of oncology medications, the denial of diagnostic services, and the continued closure of border crossings preventing patients from traveling abroad for treatment all pose a serious threat to their lives. He emphasized that the only way to save these patients is to allow them to leave the Strip to receive treatment outside Gaza.

In a statement, the Gaza Center for Human Rights explained that the number of cancer patients in the Gaza Strip is estimated at around 12,500, including children, with women accounting for approximately 52% of all cases.

The center also noted that the lack of diagnostic equipment and the suspension of medical examination departments have resulted in the diagnosis of only about 1,000 patients, while nearly 3,000 others face the risk of their conditions worsening without medical care.
