Fifty-three international non-governmental organizations operating in the Palestinian territories confirmed that Israel has issued a decision to suspend their work in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem.
In a joint statement, the organizations said that on December 30, 37 international NGOs received official notifications that their registration would expire on December 31, 2025. This triggers a 60-day period after which these organizations will be required to cease their operations in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The organizations added that international NGOs are a vital component of the humanitarian response, working in partnership with the United Nations and Palestinian civil society organizations to deliver life-saving assistance on a large scale. Humanitarian needs in Gaza remain extremely severe, with one in four families surviving on only one meal per day.
They also warned that this step would set a dangerous precedent by expanding Israeli control over humanitarian operations in the occupied Palestinian territory, in contradiction to the internationally recognized legal framework governing the area and the role of the Palestinian Authority.
