The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that the number of deaths caused by severe cold in displacement camps has risen to 21 martyrs since the start of the genocide, including 18 children, warning of catastrophic consequences from upcoming weather depressions.
According to the office, four deaths due to cold have been recorded since the beginning of the winter season, amid the absence of heating means, lack of safe shelter, shortages of blankets and winter clothing, and the continued obstruction of adequate humanitarian aid entry.
The office also warned of the impacts of the upcoming weather depression and subsequent cold fronts, accompanied by freezing temperatures and extreme cold, which could lead to a rise in the number of victims—especially among children, the sick, and the elderly—if this catastrophic humanitarian situation continues without urgent intervention.
