Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Hospital, warned of the widespread spread of a mysterious virus affecting the Gaza Strip.
Abu Salmiya explained that medical teams are unable to identify the nature of the virus due to a severe shortage of laboratory tests required for diagnosis. He noted that the virus is unusually aggressive, with the illness lasting up to two weeks instead of one, and accompanied by severe symptoms. He added that this wave has resulted in daily recorded deaths.

He stressed that the deterioration of the population’s overall immunity as a result of a systematic “war of starvation,” along with harsh weather conditions in dilapidated tents, has exacerbated the situation, especially in the absence of vaccines, which the occupation has prevented from entering since November of last year.
