Prisoners’ rights organizations stated that the number of prisoners and detainees held in Israeli occupation prisons has exceeded 9,350, as of the beginning of January 2026.

The organizations explained—based on their own data and figures announced by the Israeli Prison Service—that among the detainees are 53 female prisoners, including two girls, in addition to 350 children. These children are held in Megiddo and Ofer prisons.

They noted that the number of administrative detainees has reached 3,385, while those classified by the occupation as “unlawful combatants” number 1,237. They added that this figure does not include all Gaza detainees held in camps run by the Israeli army.

The organizations pointed out that around 50% of all prisoners and detainees are held without charges, adding that administrative detainees alone constitute more than 36% of the total number of prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons.
