The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the Gaza Strip has become the most dangerous place in the world for journalists and humanitarian workers.

Lazzarini stated that more than 230 journalists have been killed in Gaza, stressing the importance of ensuring media access and protecting journalists in accordance with international humanitarian law.

He explained that preventing international journalists from entering Gaza contributes to the spread of disinformation and the promotion of extremist narratives, undermining efforts to convey the reality of the humanitarian situation on the ground. Lazzarini called for providing the necessary protection for journalists and enabling media outlets to carry out their work without restrictions.
