The Prisoners’ Media Office reported that 53 Palestinian female prisoners are being held in Israeli occupation prisons, including 23 mothers to dozens of children, some of them infants.
The office added that the female prisoners have been completely denied visits for 28 months, exacerbating the psychological and social suffering of the mothers and their children. It also confirmed that pregnant women have been arrested, with some giving birth inside prisons—the most recent being Tihani Abu Samhan, who delivered her baby in Damon Prison.
The office pointed to the presence of two imprisoned mothers suffering from cancer amid deliberate medical neglect, noting that female prisoners are subjected to starvation, abuse, constant surveillance by cameras, escalating repression, solitary confinement, and ongoing humiliation.
