Thousands of citizens performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the strict military measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on worshippers’ access.
The Islamic Waqf Department estimated that 70,000 worshippers attended prayers within the mosque’s courtyards. Local sources reported that Israeli forces obstructed access through several mosque gates, particularly Al-Amoud and Al-Asbat, conducting ID checks, detaining several young men and a woman, and preventing them from entering. One young man was reportedly harassed and violently searched.
It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation prevents thousands of citizens from the West Bank from reaching Jerusalem to perform prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
