The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated that 10 children in Gaza have died from hypothermia since the beginning of the winter season.

He added, "With the increasing cold and heavy rainfall, children and families living in poorly insulated temporary shelters face harsh conditions with little protection from the elements."

He also warned that winter conditions, combined with severe overcrowding and shortages of water and sanitation, increase the risk of disease outbreaks and acute respiratory infections, as well as a rise in serious cases requiring intensive care.
